Lima, March 2025 .– Responsible waste management is an essential task for any company that understands sustainability as a cross-cutting process in its operations. One way to put this into practice is through waste recovery, which significantly reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills due to industrial activity. This is a practice that Alicorp, a leader in the mass consumption sector, implements through an innovative clay waste management project. This effort reaffirms its commitment to environmental care and minimizing the impact of its operations.
In collaboration with Birrak 360°, a waste transformation plant, Alicorp has successfully converted more than 2,473 tons of clay waste into valuable resources—equivalent to covering 33 blocks of a main avenue. Eco-friendly blocks, compost, and improved soil are some of the resources derived from this material, ensuring it does not negatively impact the environment.
"This project represents our firm commitment to environmental care, one of the four pillars of our sustainability strategy. At Alicorp, we believe in the importance of advancing toward circular management in our operations, creating value from what was once considered waste, and contributing to the well-being of the communities where we operate," highlighted Claudia Alvarado, Corporate Manager of Safety, Health, and Environment.
Through this initiative, Alicorp continues to implement sustainable practices in the country, setting an industry benchmark while remaining committed to its purpose of nourishing a better tomorrow through projects that protect the environment and generate a positive impact on communities.
